Your Donation Will Make a Difference

Our Foundation is not affiliated with any religious or political entity or institution – therefore, we rely solely on the generosity of donors like you to achieve our goals. Your contribution today will help us improve someone’s life tomorrow.

The Barbara Dougan Foundation (BDF) donated US$ 5,000 towards the NECF Lights for Learning Program.

With BDF’s support, we distributed 448 solar lanterns to children in 15 different primary and secondary schools in Webuye, Busia and Homa Bay counties.

The NECF distribution team was on the road for several days, drove a distance of over 1,000 kilo meters, navigated rough terrain, to reach the children in these areas, very rural and remote.

NECF was helped by US Peace Corps Volunteers, as Project Facilitators, to plan, prepare for and coordinate the distribution.

BDF’s donation and the US Peace Corps Volunteer’s support has potentially enriched the lives of about 1,750 children in these communities.

You have been up well before dawn, done your chores and walked several miles to reach your school before 7:00 am.

It’s a repeat at the end of the school day, but now it’s dark and you have homework to do. But that’s OK now…no more trying to study by the light from the cooking fire or kerosene lamp.

You have a solar light that was given by the Nancy Ellen Crooks Foundation through the kindness and concern of their donors. You get all your homework done and more. Studying has now become easier for you… sometimes even enjoyable.

This is the story of hundreds of students in rural Kenya where the Foundation has supplied school communities with solar lights. We get great reports that kids with solar lights increase their grade point averages ranging from 26% to 47%.

These students, the leaders of tomorrow, have been educated because of your concern for them through your generous donation!
